Stories for Kids in Lockdown

We’re back from our Social media detox break!

We hope everyone is keeping well and safe these days and grabbing the opportunity to read through all the unread books you’ve had on your list!

At Chelsea Young Writers, we have smoothly converted from in-house to online sessions for all our courses (creative writing and exam preparation) and age groups from 6-16 year olds. We have found new fun ways to interact and engage with each other. Brilliant lockdown stories and novels are being shared.

It’s important to keep sharing joy and happiness during these uncertain times, which is why we were thrilled to see that Ana Carolina Schraepler de Devise, a former CYW attendee and the Key Stage 1 winner of Chelsea Young Writers & Waterstones competition 2014 had her first e-book published ‘’Stories for Kids in Lockdown’’ – a compilation of her stories (including her winning story), and poems written from 2014 to date. The book itself is illustrated beautifully – with a groovy touch, thanks to Ana’s close friend and another former CYW attendee, Francesca Grachilova.

Massive thanks to Ana for mentioning us in her preface and crediting us for helping her to hone her writing in her younger years.

Congratulations and a big round of applause to both young ladies for their brilliant idea to cheer their peers up with catching stories and illustrations. It’s also heartwarming to know that all of their proceeds go to charitable foundations. They definitely deserve credit where it’s due! The e-book can be bought here.

While we’re on the subject, another big cheer must go to Anna –  our in-house writing tutor – who won the 2019 Costa Short Story Award!

From all of us here at Chelsea Young Writers, stay positive and stay well….until next time.
